All conveyor belts must be connected in a loop before they can be actually used, so the joint of the conveyor belt is a very critical preparation link. The quality of the joint directly affects the service life of the conveyor belt and whether the conveyor line can run smoothly.
1. The method of joint
The methods of conveyor belt joints include: mechanical joints, cold bonding joints, hot vulcanization joints and several other commonly used methods.
Mechanical joints generally refer to the use of belt buckle joints. This joint method is convenient, fast and economical, but the joints are inefficient and easy to damage, which has a certain impact on the service life of conveyor belt products. In PVC and PVG whole core flame retardant and antistatic conveyor belt joints, this joint method is generally used for products below grade 8 belts.
Cold bonding joints, that is, using cold bonding adhesives for joints. This joint method is more efficient and economical than mechanical joints, and should be able to have better joint effects. However, from a practical point of view, due to the difficulty in mastering the process conditions, and the quality of the adhesive has a great influence on the joints. So not very stable.
The hot vulcanization joint has been proved to be the most ideal joint method, which can ensure high joint efficiency, and is also very stable, the joint life is also very long, and it is easy to master. However, there are disadvantages such as troublesome process, high cost, and long joint operation time.
2. The joint of the layered conveyor belt
Mechanical joints, cold bonding joints, hot vulcanization joints and other joint methods can be used as needed. Generally, cold-bonded joints and hot-vulcanized joints adopt stepped structure joints.
3. The joint of PVC and PVG whole core flame retardant conveyor belt
Due to the special structure of the whole core belt, the joint is not easy, so most of them use the mechanical joint method, that is, the belt buckle joint. However, for tapes above grade 8, in order to ensure the joint effect, the method of hot vulcanization joint is generally used. The structures of the joints are all finger joints. The hot vulcanization joint process of PVC and PVG whole-core flame-retardant conveyor belts is more complicated, and the requirements for equipment are also relatively high.
4. The joint of the steel cord conveyor belt
The joint of steel cord conveyor belt is the most complicated joint technology of all conveyor belts, not only the process is more complicated, but also the designed joint size parameters are the most. Different grades of products have different joint structures, please refer to the GB9770 standard for the specific structure.
